Dividing river tracing shoes into two modules, the outsole can be swapped based on various routes. Felt soles provide the best grip in streams but lose traction once they leave the water and pick up mud and sand, necessitating a switch to other types of soles. Shoes with interchangeable outsoles can reduce the gear burden on users and minimize waste caused by worn-out soles. A felt sole can wear out in a single season, but replacing just the outsole module can extend the life of the shoes.
