Led by Taiwan International Student Design Competition’s (TISDC) associate project directors, Prof. Jun-Hong Chen and Prof. Shin-Fu Lee, the execution team of TISDC went to Thailand, to promote 2020 TISDC on February 3rd. Thanks to Creative Economy Agency’s (CEA) continued support and assistance, TISDC gained the precious opportunity to hold the promotional event in Bangkok. TISDC is also honored to invite professors and students from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Rangsit University and Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University and those who are interested in student design competition to join us. Around 45 attendees participated in the promotional event.

The theme of 2020 TISDC is “Action,” a concept derived from the “SDGs: Sustainable Development Goals,” proposed by the United Nations in 2015. These goals address the challenges that human beings are facing when trying to make the world more sustainble. As global citizens, we are expected to achieve these goals by 2030. TISDC’s associate project director, Prof. Shin-Fu Lee, indicated that the key to reaching these goals is taking action immediately. Without action, nothing could be changed. Thus, people should start facing these problems right away, figuring out possible ways to solve problems, and most importantly, using “design” to put thoughts into practice. By choosing “Action” as the theme of 2020 TISDC, TISDC would like to encourage students to pay attention to global issues, look into these issues from different perspectives, and see how design could make the world a better place.

In this promotional event, special thanks are given to CEA’s executive director, Mr. Apisit Laistrooglai, and acting director of Creative City Development, Mr. Pichit Virankabutra, for the strong support. Only with their assistance could TISDC build a connection to Thailand’s central design center to promote the Competition. TISDC’s grateful thanks also go to Mr. Saksiri Koshpasharin, TISDC’s juror of 2019, and Mr. Doonyapol Srichan, TISDC’s juror of 2018, for attending the promotional event to share their experience in selecting works. Therefore, students could have clearer ideas about how to be prepared for the Competition. TISDC also appreciates the attendance of Ms. Lu Hsin-Hui, Central News Agency’s correspondent in Bangkok, and her assistance in helping circulate the information of TISDC in Thailand. Last but not least, it is a great honor of TISDC that professors and students from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Rangsit University, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, and other design schools in Thailand joined the promotional event together to know more about the Competition. TISDC hopes that student designers in Thailand could keep following the news on TISDC’s official website and seize the opportunity to make good use of this Competition as a platform to show the world their excellent design works.
