A Look into 2020 Taiwan International Student Design Competition’s Promotional Campaign-Fo Guang University, March 19th

The seventh stop of 2020 Taiwan International Student Design Competition’s domestic promotional trip was Fo Guang University. Thanks to the invitation from the Department of Product and Media Design and Prof. Yi-Fang Kao, TISDC could have the opportunity to introduce this year’s competition to the professors and students. Aroud 40 of them joined us together. Ms. Lin, project manager of TISDC, not only let the attendees know the achievements that TISDC had reached so far but also introduce this year’s competition regulations and some of the winning entries of 2019TISDC to them. Ms. Lin encouraged the students to brainstorm frequently and try to put their thoughts into practice as well in order to show the world their creativity and uniqueness. TISDC is a great platform for design students to be connected to the world.

The theme of 2020TISDC is “Action.” Since action speaks louder than words, we hope that students could pay attention to the existing issues in our daily life and take action right away to use design to make the world a better place to live. The theme “Action” is also connected to the Sustaainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. Thus, we encourage students to make the best use of design to change the world for better.

This year, 2020TISDC has a newly-established award, called Environmental Sustainability Award, sponsored by TPCA Environment Foundation. The Foundation hopes that designers could always keep in mind the importance of protecting our environment. Thus, jurors will select one entry from the product design category with the significance of environmental sustainability to win this prize. The winner of this prize could receive NT$100,000, a trophy, and a certificate. It’s a gold opportunity that design students shouldn’t miss.

In the end, 2020TISDC would like to express our appreciation to Fo Guang University again for inviting us and helping us arrange this promotional campaign. We really look forward to the active participation of students from Fo Guang University.
