Taiwan design shines in Vietnam!

To cooperate with the Ministry of Education's Southbound Policy, Professor Jun-Hong Chen, Professor Shin-Fu Lee, and Professor Sheng-Min Hsieh, Asia University, were leading the TISDC executive team to travel to Vietnam for promotion tour at artistic design schools in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from April 17th to April 23rd, 2018. The relevant schools were conducting a one-week exchange activity named "Vietnam Taiwan Design Education Talk" holding at the Nikko Hotel in Hanoi on April 18th. During the talk, the outstanding 2017 prize-winning works would be showcased at the same time. The team would like to thank Pham Huyen Kieu, the head of the HAKI design company, which  hosts the British Council Education Fair in Vietnam, for the assistance of gathering five art and design institutes in Hanoi: Vietnam University of Fine Arts, FPT University (FPT), University of Industrial Fine Art, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Nguyen Trai University, and representatives of local famous designers and design organizations. Over 30 experts and scholars attended to the lecture. The forum also invited Li Ming, the head of Education Division, Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Hanoi, Vietnam, to participate in the event.

At the beginning of the forum, Mr. Li Ming took the theme of “breakthroughs and innovation” to encourage Vietnamese students to challenge themselves and practice their creative ideas through participating international competitions, furthermore, to build more educational and cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Vietnam. The associate project director of TISDC, Prof. Jun-Hong Chen, introduced the relevant programs for the cultivation of art and design talents currently handled by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan, and presented the substantial achievement of Taiwan’s design education. Meanwhile, he expressed his sincere appreciation to the chief executives and local school representatives for their support and assistance to this event by presenting certificate of appreciation to them. The associate project director of TISDC, Prof. Shin-Fu Lee, lectured on the theme “Breakthrough and Innovation” to encourage Vietnamese students to participate actively in international competitions to accumulate their own creative energy. He hoped that the students will have the courage to break through and be innovative in the design field. Prof. Tian Thi Le Quyen from FPT, shared the experience of leading the students to participate in the competition last year. The expectation of the number of participants in Vietnam could reach a new high this year to gain a better achievement, and create the strength to connect with international design energy.

This forum once again opened the window for design education exchanges and has built a solid friendship between Vietnam and Taiwan since the first time that the executive team launched promotional activities in Vietnam in 2017. Through exchange activities, local students and teachers would also keep a close attention to the development of TISDC.
